The village, in which this property is situated, lies 39 km away from the town of Malko Tarnovo and 68 km away from the attractive beach resort town of Tsarevo. It is a great region with charming landscapes. The area is suitable for fishing and hunting.
The present town of Malko Turnovo was founded towards the end of 16th century and the beginning of 17th century, most probably by settlers that had moved from neighbouring hamlets to settle by the Golemiya Vris Spring where people still enjoy its clear cold water. The name of the settlement is derived from the thistles growing in profusion all over the place. Its original name Trunovo was changed into Turnovo, and later the word “Malko” (Small) was added to distinguish it from the name of the Old Bulgarian capital Veliko Turnovo, which has some of the most picturesque Bulgarian properties to offer.
Some twenty or so old buildings in the typical Strandzha architectural style are open for visitors; among them are the Popikonomov’s House with a display of an ethnographic collection, and Velko Georgiev’s workshop with an 18-metre long facade. There is an exhibition (the “Preobrazhenie Uprising of 1903”) arranged at the Prosveta Community Centre.
