The resort of Albena is situated 32 km north of Varna and just 12km South-West of the historic town of Balchik on a long sand stretch in the open northern part of the Varna Bay. The resort was established in 1968 and it is one of the best infrastructured holiday spots along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The complex lies beneath a relatively high hill and is especially charming due to the near-by forest of Baltata, part of which is declared  protected area.
