The Taukliman Nature Reserve, also known as the Bird Bay, is located nearly 15 km. to the east of the town of Kavarna and 37 km. away from the town of Balchik. The area boasts a number of small picturesque beaches, warm mineral springs, and tiny rocky islands. According to some researches, the region was inhabited since ancient times. The Touzlata Locality, outlying as near as 4 km. to the town of Balchik, is set up to the south-west of the Taukliman Nature Reserve, right next to the beach itself. It is noted as mud-curing and spa resort, but is also gifted with a “golden” sand beach stripe and comfortable for swimming small bays. With a rare combination of beautiful nature and interesting historical monuments, the region becomes an attractive destination for the golf lovers in Bulgaria. Two new golf courses will be built around Balchik. One of them is situated right between the towns of Balchik and Kavarna, on a plateau overlooking the sea.
