The Taukliman Nature Reserve, also known as the Bird Bay, is located nearly 15 km. eastern of the town of Kavarna and 60 km. away from Varna. The area has a number of small picturesque beaches, warm mineral springs, and tiny rocky islands. According to some researches, the region was inhabited since a long time ago. The Touzlata Locality, outlying as near as 4 km. to the town of Balchik, is set up south-western of Taukliman, right next to the beach itself. It is noted as mud-curing and spa resort, but also boasts a “golden” sand beach stripe and comfortable for swimming small bays.
With a rare combination of beautiful nature and interesting historical monuments, the region becomes an attractive tourist destination for the golf lovers in Bulgaria. Two new golf courses will be built around Balchik. One of them is situated right between the towns of Balchik and Kavarna, on a plateau overlooking the sea. The second one will be developed along the coastline, near the sea, below the villages of Bozhurets and Topola.
              The golf course near Balchik will cover a total area of 1 000 hectares. It will offer 18 holes and will correspond to the best international golf standards. Golfers will enjoy the beautiful view towards the sea and the Kaliakra Cape. The construction works have already started as the whole complex is supposed to be completed in May 2007, when the official opening will take place.
