The stylish new complex “Perelik Palace” is located between the world-famous ski resort of Pamporovo (7km) and the new sports and tourist resort Perelik (3km), which is some 5 km from the Lakes of Smolyan, and just outside the lovely village of Stoykite – situated in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains – the home of Orpheus. The main regional town of Smolyan is 15 km away, the second biggest Bulgarian town Plovdiv with its airport – 90km, and the capital city Sofia – 250km. Perelik Palace Complex consists of six 3-, 4- and 5-storeyed blocks connected with each other, forming a secluded green yard on several levels. The building is constructed in the traditional Rhodopean style. The construction will include plastered walls, stone and wooden joinery, with thermal insulation of the whole building, windows with PVC joinery, natural wood color. The roof is tiled, with hydro-insulation. The building has two indoor and one open-plan lifts, underground garage for 20 cars and 16 parking places. The total number of apartments is 168, ranging from 25 to 130 sq.m. living area. The complex is designed and executed according to most contemporary technologies with materials meeting the European standards with respect to security and quality. The complex is situated at an altitude of 1530m above the sea level offering a wonderful view of the highest peaks of the Rhodope Mountains: Perelik – 2191m; Kuzuyatak - 2100m; Snezhanka – 1926m and Orpheus – 1826m., surrounded by beautiful pine trees and scenic mountain meadows. The village of Stoykite is endowed with weather conditions which are perfect for summer as well as for winter recreation with its snow cover lasting for over four months and 240 sunny days per year. Stoykite is among the first ski centers in the Rhodopes. This is the birthplace of many skiers who have largely contributed to the development of skiing and brought fame to Bulgaria. There are two ski runs in Stoikite . The shorter slope is right in the middle of the village. It is easily accessible, wide, and moderately steep, so it is most appropriate for beginners. It is equipped with a small ski-tow for the younger winter sports fans. The other run is suitable for both intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. It is 1500 m long and near the Mount Cherni Vrah, in the area called Enicharsko, and it is also equipped with a ski tow and offers ski rental. The Rhodopes are mountains where adventure activities have no season. In the summer they offer countless fascinating possibilities for active recreation and tourism. You can touch the secrets that the mountain jealously keeps by visiting some of the historic monuments: the ancient fortress of “Sveti Vrach” or the Thracian necropolis near “Sveta Elena”. If you like nature, you can take one of the eco or tourist walks in the area of Stoykite, Grashtitsa, Solishta, Stikal, Shiroka Laka and Gela, as well as the nearby mounts Goliam Perelik, Snezhanka and Mechi Chal which offer extraordinary views. Those who seek extreme sensations can go climbing, riding, biking and diving into wild caverns with the help of professional guides and wearing the appropriate equipment that they can hire there. However, you can not feel the spirit of the mountain without visiting one of the old mountain settlements. Some interesting surprises will be waiting for you in Shiroka Laka. Suddenly you will find yourself back into the 18-19th centuries. Can you imagine that the church in the village was only built within 38 days in 1834, and the three bridges over the river have been preserved since Roman times! Also in Shiroka Laka is the NSFA (National School of Folk Music and Dance Arts), which is one of the landmarks of the region. The most typical and widely used musical instrument in the Rhodopes is the so-called “kaba gaida” (soft bagpipe). It has a very delicate, warm and luscious tone. There are many villages like Shiroka Laka, Gela, Stoykite, Chokmanovo, etc with more than 25 bagpipers. The local ring-dances (horo) are grave and slow and so are the songs. “Bela sam, bela, yunache” has become the anthem of the Rhodopes. The famous Bulgarian song “Izlel e Delyu haidutin” performed by Stefka Sabotinova, which was sent to the outer space, also comes from this region. Once they asked this highlander from the Rhodopes which one he liked best: his shotgun or his bagpipe. He replied: “The shotgun is for enemies and the bagpipe is for friends. Enemies deserve a bullet while friends need a song.” Keeping the typical features of the Bulgarian folklore, the folklore of the Rhodope Mountains has its original characteristics which distinguish it from the other folklore regions in Bulgaria. The mountains, the hard times, the assiduousness and devotion to the family are the main motivation and driving forces in the lives of the locals and are reflected in their crafts, music, clothing, festivities, and architecture. “Perelik Palace” complex is situated just 7 km from the famous ski resort Pamporovo which offers excellent conditions for practicing all ski sports. Pamporovo is the sunniest winter resort in Bulgaria there the winter is soft, but with a lot of snow, and the number of the sunny days during the season from December to May comes up to 120 days.
