There are a number of different forthcoming projects: gasification of the municipality, construction of a sport hall, construction of a swimming pool, reconstruction of the municipal market, projects for a square, a boulevard and new territories in regulation, construction of children playgrounds. The municipality has the exceptional prerequisite of being a boundary of Haskovo county and Bulgaria with two neighbouring countries – Turkey and Greece. This defines its leading role in the future development of the European transport corridors, connecting Western and Central Europe with the Near and the Far East. The favourable natural and climatic conditions, the afforested areas, the water basins, as well as the presence of some departmental villas are prerequisites for a mountain village and hunting tourism. The breeding of game for hunting fields is carried out in special bases and farms. Cultural and historical tourism can be developed on the basis of combined routes, including near sights on the two countries on the boundary. The Thracian cemetery near the village of Mezek, the Medieval Bulgarian necropolis in Svilengrad, the rocky churches near the villages of Mihalich and Matochina and the Medieval fortress in the location of Kaleto are places of interest in Svilengrad municipality. The municipality has very important natural, geographic, frontier, transport and communicative features which have a main part in the plan for development of Haskovo region. The priorities for the municipality are mainly agricultural production, transport service with international importance and development of transborder collaboration with Turkey and Greece. The unique advantage of Svilegrad is its situation, which helps for approving the town as a center with strenghtened transborder collaboration. Modern communicative and informative centre for complex services will be concentrated here, as well as, business centers, tourist centers attractive places for spending the night and food and many places for having fun. The municipality of Sliven is turning into a steady developing part of Bulgaria and attractive place opened to the rest of the world.
