The Bulgarian Telecommunication Company (BTC) is investing over 2 million leva in modernizing the telecom network in Bulgaria’s biggest winter resorts: Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo. The great interest of the tourists in these resorts is the reason for permanent enlarging of the number of newly built houses and hotels. The increasing number of tourists and people, buying properties is one of the motives for the need of modernizing the telecom network. The BTC investment project will secure access to better telecom solutions in the Bulgarian winter resorts. Through the increased capacity of the telephone exchanges in the winter resorts, an opportunity to use high-speed ADSL Internet will be offered to more tourist facilities. The development of tourism and the attraction of foreign investors is important for the country.This investment just prepares the network to be ready before the beginning of the coming winter season. The process of increasing the capacity of the telephone exchanges will involve change of the dialling codes and telephone numbers in the three winter resorts. The change is called for by the requirement of the Communications Regulation Commission for changing the geographical codes of the number regions in Bulgaria. As a result of that, the code for Borovets will be changed from a four digit number (7128) to a three digit number (750). Borovets is the oldest resort dating back to the year of 1896. Today Borovets is the biggest, first-class mountain resort in Bulgaria. Situated at 1350m above the sea level on the northern slopes of Rila Mountain among age-old pine woods, Borovets is located at the foot of Mussala Peak (2925m) - the highest one on the Balkan Peninsula. The slopes and runs are maintained in perfect condition and are designed with international markings and multilingual signs. The Borovets ski school of international prestige and long-standing traditions has more than 200 ski instructors, all of them fluent in different languages. The cabin cableway to the peak of Yastrebets is the most imposing one. Its capacity adds up to 1200 people per hour. The Ski Patrol provides a round-the-clock emergency service. It is organized in four teams fully equipped with all the necessary equipment including helicopter if needed. It is based at the first station of the cable lift. Toboggans, swimming pools, saunas, fitness center, billiard, table tennis, bowling, and much more - a trip with a sledge, a ski view with a helicopter, etc. are available for your leisure pleasure.
