The Municipality of Antonovo is situated in north-east Bulgaria, in the south-west part of Targovishte region. To the north, north-east and east it borders on the Municipalities of Popovo, Targovishte and Omurtas, to the south-east – with the Municipality of Kotel, and to south-west and north-west – with the Municipalities of Elena, Zlataritza and Strajitsa.
Because of the growing interest of Bulgarian and foreign buyers in the area of Antonovo, the Municipality is taking measures to improve its infrastructure. For a period of 2-3 years three fourths of the roads have been perfectly asphalted. The other one third of them are asphalted as well, and are in comparatively good condition. And it is expected they to be reconstructed too in close future.
At the moment there is a new purifying station for drinking water being built which will be finished till the end of the year. A purifying station for waste water is already built. Some of the villages in the Municipality, such as Yastrebino, have already been provided with drainage systems.
Except for improving its infrastructure, the Municipality is taking steps in the development of tourism in the region. At the moment there are two nature sightseeing routes being built in the southern and in the northern part of the Municipality. The route in the southern part includes Antonovo, Zlataritsa, and Strajitsa, and the one in the northern part – Popovo and Antonovo. Another attractive advantage of the town and its surroundings is the close proximity to the former Bulgarian capital – Veliko Tarnovo, which is a popular tourist attraction. There you can see ruins of the fortresses, palaces and churches which have been preserved – symbols of the Bulgarian history and culture. There is a main road in very good condition leading from Antonovo to Veliko Tarnovo.
The region of Antonovo becomes more and more attractive for foreigners looking to invest in Bulgaria. The advantageous properties and agricultural land attracts the attention of investors.
