The Etropole region offers excellent conditions for recreation - majestic and beautiful nature, interesting tourist routes, ancient monuments and wonderful conditions for skiing, village and ecological tourism. The investment policy of the Etropole municipality is directed towards infrastructure and construction of a municipal market for wild fruit and herbs. The projects concerning the infrastructure are: repairs of roads, construction of a drinking water purification plant, costruction of a waste water purification plant and construction of a dam for drinking water in the village of Yamna. The existing transport network provides connections to all settlements.
Emil Dimitrov, the owner of a private game reserve in Etropole, provoked the interest of many Bulgarians. He showed the biggest antlers of a red deer in the world. The impressive trophey comes from the Ezerishte area.The red deer was shot by a foreigner, who paid 64 000 euro to have the right to own the trophy.Because of that many people started visiting Etropole. The municipality is turning into a main center of hunting tourism in Bulgaria.
There are many other preconditions development of the tourism in the region, such as nature and ancient history.The town of Etropole is situated in the beautiful hollow of the Malki Iskar River, at the foot of the Baba summit. Etropole has an over 2 500- year-old history. The location and the natural conditions of the region have favoured the economic development and commerce since the earliest times. The archaeological evidence - Macedon and Greek coins, samples of Greek ceramics, luxury objects and finery, show an early establishment of commercial relations with remote markets - Phoenicia and Egypt. The economic progress of the settlement brought forth conditions for the development of education and literature.
In 2001 Etropole won “Prize for Rapprochement of the Towns with the European Council – 2001” awarded by the European Committee and the Regional Centre for Central and Eastern Europe, “Information, Ecologic Education and Steady Development” sector.
