Targovishte fraternized with the Spanish town- Santa Maria Da Feira which was very useful for the future development of the town. The man, who helped for the fraternization- Manuel Bastos, is establishing a manufactury for cork and cork products near Targovishte. His interests are not only in making branches of his company in Bulgaria, but he has also interest in the investment climate in Targovishte and in the prices of properties in order to implement different projects in future. The strategic position of the town turns it into a natural crossroad of important roads of military and trade significance, connecting the Danube ports and the central part of the country with the Black Sea as well as Dobroudja with Thrace. The region is very advantageous for investments, because it has developed telecommunications and infrastructure, free investment areas, key geographic position, nearness to the ports of Varna (Black Sea) and Rousse (Danube River), good ecological environment and favourable natural conditions for agricultural development. The regional and local management has innovative attitude towards the economy development. The land of the region is very fertile and Targovishte is famous for it s wines. Wine-production and vine-growing are traditional sectors in the economy of the municipality of Targovishte. This year Targovishte’s wines won a golden medal at the “Winery 2006”. In such connection the wine tourism in the region is developing. Targovishte region is appropriate for all kinds of tourism- cultural and historical, ecotourism, balneo-therapeutical, sports, rural, hunting and fishing tourism, and wine tourism.
