The famous Bulgarian ski resort of Bansko, which is a paradise place for those who are fond of winter sports, by recently stayed deserted during summer. Now it is hosting tourists and buyers all year round.
Since the year 2003 about 3000 British people have bought properties in the resort town, situated about 150 km southward from the capital of Bulgaria – Sofia. Many of the buyers are attracted by the reputation of the town as a leading Central European ski centre – it  has ski tracks with length of 64 km.
Foreign visitors announce that Bansko may compete with the French ski centres, but it did not have much attractions to offer after the winter season. This is changed with the opening of a horse-riding base, a golf course projected by the British star Yan Usnam, and tracks for cycling and motor-riding, says Mike Wellings, whose Company Winslow Developments has built hundreds of apartments for British buyers in Bansko.
The construction and the renovations progress fast, and the tourist industry flourishes rapidly. According to the official statistics, the number of British tourists in the Bulgarian resorts has risen with 62 per cent during the last year. Eight per cent of the foreign visitors in Bansko are British people and Irishmen.
The popularity of the winter resorts grows on the background of the forthcoming summer season and the growing sales of villas along the northern Black Sea coast. This region is already all-year round magnate for tourists and investors.
The companies making analysis on the property market in Bulgaria announce that the prices in the tourist regions in Bulgaria have grown with 25-30 per cent during the last two years, and it is expected that they will continue to grow.
It is expected that the resorts working during the whole year will bring higher incomes to the investors who buy properties in these regions. May be the most significant thing in regards to this is that Bulgaria may be accepted in the European Union. The positive result of this event is obvious in countries such as Spain, Portugal, and Greece. Now they have better motorways, railway net and common infrastructure. As a result of these improvements the prices of the real estates in these countries have risen. Similar future expects Bulgaria, is the opinion of experts in this field.
