Panagurishte


The town of Panagyurishte, offering excellent cheap Bulgarian property, is situated in Central Bulgaria, in a small valley of the Sushtinska Sredna Gora. It is part of the Pazardzhik Region and is situated 91 km to the east from Sofia, 43 km north from Pazardzhik and 37 km south at Zlatitsa as it is very closely situated to the town of Strelcha. During the Ottoman rule the town received a special status as a military village and it was privileged not to pay some taxes which hindered the economical development, it was given the right of partial self-government. The population of the small town arouse mostly during the April Uprising when it was in the center of all epic events.
